Maramures, the Heart and Soul of Rural Romania

Day 1: Welcom to Cluj Napoca 

• After landing we will start our journey towards Cluj Napoca.
• In the evening you will have the pleasure to discover on your own the beautiful city.
• Free time and after that accommodation at the hotel .

Day 2: Cluj-Napoca- Banffi-Baia-Mare- Surdesti-Sighetul Marmatiei 

• Breakfast at the hotel, we start our journey to Sighetu Marmatiei. On the way we will see Banffy Castle in Bontida
• Our next stop will be in Baia Mare, then we have a stopover in the village of Surdesti
• Accommodation at the hotel 

Day 3: Sighetul Marmatiei - Sapanta 

• after leaving the hotel we are going to visit “The Memorial of the Victims of Communism and of the Resistance” 
• we visit also the Memorial House of Elie Wiesel, the Nobel Laureate and Holocaust survivor.
• Our next stop will be in Sapantawhere we will visit the Merry Cemetery that is a cemetery famous for its colourful tombstones with naive paintings
• Return to the hotel

Day 4:  "Mocanita" - Rozavlea - Barsana- Oncesti - Sighetul Marmatiei  

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Morning start for a Mocanitaride. We will have a nice trip on a steam train. Mocanita from Viseu de Sus is the most famous narrow gauge train using a steam engine in Romania and the only one in Europe still performing forestry (logging) jobs on a daily basis.
• see the most famous wooden churches. Bârsana Monastery, it is one of the eight churches on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
• We will have dinner in a typical, rustic family pension in Oncesti. Here we’re going to taste freshly baked bread and other delicious local products.

    Day 5:  Sighetul Marmatiei - Cluj 

• After breakfast we will continuealong with our tour going back to Cluj Napoca to fathom the beautiful places found here.
• Cluj City Tour the tour offers an understanding of the social, ethnic, political, religious, and cultural backgrounds. Among the most important objectives are: Saint Michael Church – one of the most beautiful gothic monuments from Transylvania, the Orthodox Cathedral, Matei Corvin House,Babes-Bolyai University,the National Theatre and Romanian Opera, and many others.
• After the city tour you have free time to enjoy this beautiful city.

Day 6:  Cluj Napoca- Turda Salt Mine- Sighisoara 

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• We start our daywith the Salt Mine in Turda. 
• Afterwards we will visit Sighisoara,the only medieval citadel in Transylvania.
• Overnight in Sighisoara and free time to enjoy the city .

Day 7:  Sighisoara - Biertan- Seuca- Cluj-Napoca

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• We will have a morning start for an interesting daythat combines history and pleasure, on our return to Targu Mures.
• The first stopwill be in Biertan village which hosts the fortress and church with the same name. Biertan Fortified Church is considered to be one of the most important fortified churches in Transylvania
• Next we stopin Seuca for a session of Transylvanian wine tasting and lunch.
• Accommodation in Cluj Napoca

Day 8:  Transfer from the hotel to the airport.

• Breakfast at the hotel 
• Transfer to the airport
